DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

You will be responsible for leading, directing, developing and managing the school. Your job is teacher and student focused but you will also be one of the primary faces and shapers of the school to the parents and community. You will work closely with the head of school to develop systems and procedures for the new campus at 119 South 3rd Street in Williamsburg.

You must be an expert in school administration, operations, and curriculum and must have extensive knowledge of the Montessori method and classroom experience.

You should be a NYC certified Early Childhood Education professional.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the hiring of teachers and assistants, and ensure that an effective teaching team is created and maintained

  • Establish and maintain a Montessori learning culture

  • Set and promote educational standards and expectations for all students and staff according to the school's philosophy.

  • Supervise programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.

  • Manage, evaluate and supervise schools methodologies functioning according to the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school

  • Build opportunities and programs for teachers' professional development

  • Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, approving all recommendations.

LEAD PRIMARY TEACHER

We are seeking a Montessori trained Lead Primary Teacher for our Primary Classroom, ages 2 1/2-6.

Candidate should have experience in the day-to-day workings of a Montessori School with a true commitment and passion to Montessori academic excellence as well as positive and proven experience in constructivist classrooms. The candidate must possess leadership skills, be flexible and positive. The Lead Primary teacher will follow children, create and adapt curriculum and work closely with their team to provide the best possible classroom experience.

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree

  • AMI/AMS Credential in Early Childhood

  • Extensive knowledge of the Montessori Method

  • 3-5 years experience in preschool administration, Montessori administration is a plus

  • Great organizational, computer, and administrative skills

ASSISTANT TODDLER'S TEACHER

We are looking for a credentialed teacher to assist in the Toddler (2 year old) classroom. Assistants support and uphold discipline policies and decisions set by the Head Teacher and may be asked to design an activity for any area, plan a group activity as interests and experience dictate, give lessons, and attend staff meetings. Assisting teachers provide input to the Head Teacher to be used at conferences with parents. Although Head Teachers will make assignments of certain duties to all assistants, the creative energy of the classroom is dependent on the individual efforts of all teachers to contribute above and beyond those assignments. Positivity and team player mentality a must, huge opportunities to grow.
